About Ratchet Straps

Let us learn something about it!

Q1: Why do ratchet straps have hooks?

A ratchet strap consists of a length of webbing, a ratcheting mechanism, and hooks for attaching the strap to a secure anchor point.

Q2: Are there different types of ratchet straps?

Ratchet Straps are available in 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches, and 4-inch (25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm) polyester tie-down webbing that creates a wide range of working load limits to fit your cargos correct working load limit rating that you need in order to stay safe.

Q3: What is the most common ratchet strap size?

2 inch (50mm).

2 inch Ratchet Straps are our most common size of Ratchet Straps that are ordered and are used for heavier everyday tasks such as securing a vehicle, motorcycle, ATV, securing cargo in a pickup truck or trailer, and are used in professional trucking fleets.

Q4: What strength ratchet strap do I need?

To safely secure a load, the combined WLL of the ratchet straps used must be greater than the weight of the secured cargo. For example, if your cargo weighs 1,000 lbs and you are using 2 ratchet straps to tie it down, each strap must have a WLL of 500 lbs or greater.
